LD-PE Shrink film

LD-PE shrink film:

Shrink film technology is unique in many respects, as shrink film has a wide variety of properties and thus offers a broad spectrum of solutions to problems. Whether for transport, material protection or storage of goods – shrink film is used in many areas and often represents the optimal solution.

LD-PE shrink film (Low Density Polyethylene) is a synthetic and thermoplastic polymer, which belongs to the category of polyolefins. Shrink film reacts to heat, shrinks together and hardens when cooled. This compactly secures the underlying packaged goods against slippage and protects them from external impact / damage.

Shrink film comes in different thicknesses (usually between 90 my – 200 my) and can be selected individually based on the requirements. LD-PE shrink film is recyclable and in some cases can even be reused.

The 3 different types of shrink film:

Shrink Flat Film:

Shrink flat films are seamless films that can have different lengths and widths. They are wound onto a mandrel and shipped as a compact roll. Unwound, the shrink flat film is a flat film in web form that can be flexibly shortened and adapted to the conditions of use.

Shrink Hood Covers

Shrink hoods are prefabricated hoods that are slipped over the packaged goods (usually pallets) and then shrunk. The big advantage: uniform, fast and effective procedure. It is important to determine the correct hood size. We will be happy to advise you in detail here.

Tubular Shrink Film:

Side gusset shrink tubular film combines the flexibility of flat film and uniformity of hoods, making it optimal for shrinking pallets with different heights. The packaging is done by yourself and the opening of the shrink tube is closed with the SHRINKFAST hand shrinker.

Possible applications LD-PE shrink film:

Pallet Transport:

Shrink film allows pallet and packaged goods to become one and secures the load against slipping, weathering, dirt and transport damage. The shrink film adapts to the packaged goods, shrinks together, fixes the load and hardens when cooling.

Single Object Transport:

High-value goods, machines or other objects can be made ready for transport with shrink film. The shrink film hardens during cooling and thus provides maximum protection against external damage. Helicopters and components for the aviation industry, among others, are packaged in this way.

Storage:

Shrink film provides protection against moisture, weather, UV rays and other external factors. So if goods need to be stored protected and there is no covered capacity, then storage with shrink film is an attractive solution. Shrink film provides protection that ensures the longevity of your goods and reduces or eliminates reconditioning or replacement costs.

The advantages of shrink film

Protection against Damage:

External damage (e.g. knocks, dents and scratches) is prevented by the hardened shrink film. Internal damage – caused by friction or slippage within the packaged goods – is also prevented by the film being adjusted and fixed during shrinking.

Protection against Weather Conditions:

The main cause of damage to cartons and the corresponding packaged goods is moisture. The protective effect of shrink film against all weather conditions such as rain, hail, snow is outstanding and unique.

Protection against UV Radiation:

If the packaged goods are to be transported and/or stored for a longer period of time and not exposed to UV radiation, then our UV-absorber film coating can help. UV radiation can thus be absorbed by the shrink film for up to 2 years.

Protection against Theft:

Theft of goods usually happens in transit between the manufacturer and the recipient – either directly from the truck or at intermediate storage points. Shrink film has two major theft prevention features. First, due to the transparent shrink film, missing goods are immediately visually visible and the end customer can immediately identify and report the problem. Second, shrink film cannot be resealed on its own, so the theft is immediately noticed or deters thieves.

Dyed shrink wrap, on the other hand, does not allow the customer to see what is on the pallet. This means that expensive electrical equipment, for example, cannot be detected from the outside.

Protection / advantages when receiving goods:

The transparent shrink film allows barcodes on the packaged goods to be recognized, scanned and quickly processed. The transparent shrink film also makes it possible to quickly check whether the goods are damaged.

FAQ Shrink film:

1. Is shrink film sustainable?

Yes, LD-PE shrink film (Low Density Polyethylene) is a synthetic and thermoplastic polymer which belongs to the category of polyolefins. This material is completely recyclable and in some cases reusable.

2. What is shrink film suitable for?

Shrink film is one of the most versatile packaging technologies and is used in diverse areas. Whether transport, storage, preservation or surface protection - shrink film offers the most holistic protection against internal and external damage to your packaged goods and goods.

3. Does the heat of the heat gun not damage the packaged goods under the shrink film?

No! The shrink film absorbs all the heat, reacts and shrinks together. The packaged goods behind it heat up by a maximum of 8 degrees celsius. This means that the surface of the packaged goods is not stressed at all.

Bottom line: shrink wrap makes transporting and storing your goods safer, more flexible, and less expensive in the long run when you consider the cost of returning goods, reconditioning, or repurchasing due to damage, weather, theft, and more.
